About Us
When Anvil Agrinomics, LLC (AnvilAg) was envisioned, our founder Jim Megerson set out to create an Engineering firm different from the typical design firm. Jim wanted a firm known for its innovative and creative problem-solving. He wanted to balance construction knowledge and technical engineering prowess. At AnvilAg, we focus our efforts on utilizing sound engineering to procure work in several different business sectors. By balancing design, construction cost, operations, and maintenance to achieve the best return on the owner’s HVACD investment, Jim’s team delivers the true value of HVAC ownership.
Controlled Environments for Indoor Agriculture (CEA)
Our focus at AnvilAg is controlled environments for indoor agriculture, namely indoor cultivation and manufacturing for cannabis-infused products. We have devoted our time to learning and developing expertise in how heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and dehumidification (HVACD) systems provide life support for agricultural products. To properly design HVACD systems for CEA, it is paramount that one has an equal understanding of botany. As we design buildings for people's comfort, we must also design indoor agriculture facilities for the plant as an occupant. It is important to know that with Indoor cultivation, the entire building is a system that supports plant life. We are trying to create the perfect outdoor day inside the building 24/7. We can no longer build the systems into the building but the building around the systems.
Innovative and EnvironmentalLY Responsible Design Solutions
We believe every building should be designed, built, and operated sustainably. At AnvilAg, we use innovation and creativity to develop sustainable solutions for clients with the goal of optimizing the results for their specific requirements. We seek to minimize the effect of the built environment on the natural environment while creating functional spaces to live, work, and play. We are always on the lookout for new industry trends. AnvilAg has vast experience in the design of several innovative, alternative technologies for HVACD, indoor air quality, and water efficiency. We also incorporate environmentally responsible design principles into all our projects. We actively participate in internationally recognized organizations that promote sustainable design, including the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Resource Innovation Institute (RII) and the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA).
Quality Control Enhanced by Hands-On Construction Experience
AnvilAg has a formal, extensive quality control program. Every project is assigned to a Principal-in-Charge who works with the team of engineers to develop the goals of the project and set the course to meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Drawings are reviewed at several stages by senior principals with field experience in construction trades in addition to 25-30 years in engineering design. Several principals have interned or worked as sheet metal workers, pipe fitters, electricians, or HVAC service technicians. This practical experience contributes to our change order percentage, which is well below industry standards and critical to keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
Key leaders of AnvilAg participate on industry committees / boards and speak nationally on a variety of topics relevant to our clients. Recent presentation topics at national conferences include Controlled Environments for Indoor Agriculture, Manufacturing for Infused Products, Underfloor Air Distribution, Displacement Ventilation, Energy Code Compliance. Articles authored by AnvilAg engineers on similar topics have appeared in industry trade publications. We currently have representation on the NCIA’s Facility Design Committee, and ASHRAE’s Controlled Environments for Indoor Agriculture committee.
